But What About Our Dental Plans?

In today's inbox, one of the silliest-yet e-mails from an anti-war, anti-Bush mate:

To the citizens of the United States of America,

In the light of your failure to elect a decent President of the USA, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective today. Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchial duties over all states, commonwealths and other territories.

Except Utah, which she does not fancy.

Your new prime minister (The Right Honourable Tony Blair, MP for the 97.85% of you who have until now been unaware that there is a world outside your borders) will appoint a minister for America without the need for further elections...
And so on and so forth.

Fine with me; whoever wrote this seems not to realize that all he'd do is swap out one pro-war leader for another, with the knock-on effect of cheering Andrew Sullivan up.

And us special-ed right-wingers are supposed to be dumb...

That email is from the last time round, which should be clear from the first line(though the word "decent" may have been added to make that less obvious).

At the time it was funny. I recall it was sent around before the supreme court decision settled the dispute. It cerainly wasn't "anti-war" or "anti-Bush", just an average bit of humour - your political views clouding your understanding much? Of was the text altered to include lots of anti-Bush rhetoric?

Here's some evidence for you being four years behind the rest us: http://www.mail-archive.com/unicode@unicode.org/msg03068.html
